Domestic renewable energy technology innovator

A successful telecommunications entrepreneur realised that there were some potentially attractive business opportunities to provide innovative solutions for producing domestic renewable energy. To that end, he formed an experienced engineering team in Singapore and had them construct a portfolio of potential innovations. This portfolio included a roofing tile containing embedded photovoltaic cells, a system for catching wind that was integrated with the structure of a roof and a system for collecting rainwater. The proposal was to fund the further development of the company by floating it on the London Alternative Investment Market (AIM). We led the independent valuation and risk analysis process, where the team evaluated the technologies in some detail and compared them with the potential results for the alternatives. Some of the technologies were low performing and we agreed to only value those that showed promise. We also valued the patents that the company had filed internationally for these innovations as the patents were a potentially lucrative element of the enterprise.
